Blue is the colour – Day 24

With only seven days of April left I’m on the home straight of my #wearblueforcharlie month.  I started off not sure if I would have enough outfits to wear but with only a few days left it turns out I still have enough blue clothes left to make some choices.

I was lucky enough to be spending time looking after my Grandchildren today.  While I love them to bits it can get always get a bit messy so I decided this easy to wear, easy to wash denim dress would be do the job.

Of course the rest of the week is going to be a bit harder – because although I have plenty of blue outfits to choose from they aren’t all suitable for work and could still end up going in in my pyjamas.  But even if I do at least it will all be in a good cause and mean more money for the Charlie Cookson Foundation.

Blue is the colour – Day 23

After last weekend’s crazy cake baking I’m hoping this weekend is going to be a little more relaxed.

The sun is still shining in South Shields – just – so I thought a pretty blue flowery dress would be ideal to #wearblueforcharlie.

So I went for a dress I bought a couple of weeks ago in the sales

Yes I know I said I wasn’t buying loads of new clothes but the clothes shopping law says…………….

“If it’s in the sale, it’s in your size and you love it – You have to buy it”

And if that helps me raise awareness of the Charlie Cookson Foundation then that’s even better.

Blue is the colour – Day 21

While everyone is celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday (Happy Birthday Your Majesty) today I’ll be attending another very special birthday party – a 100th birthday party.

I’m not a guest at the party, I’m not a family member, I’m not a friend.  I’ve never even met the Birthday Girl before.  But I’m not gatecrashing – that really wouldn’t be a nice thing to do – I’m attending as part of my job.

You see the lady in question is a service user (I work in local government) and I’ve organised some “comms” around the event to make sure our very own centenarian is the centre of attention.  After all she has had to share her birthday with the Queen every years since she was 10 years old.

So the Lord Mayor is coming, she’ll be receiving her letter from the Queen, entertainment, a cake and buffet have all been organised – and – to top it all off – the BBC are coming along to film the celebrations.  And unlike the Queen our Birthday Girl isn’t used to being on TV – so this will be extra special for her.

So although not a guest I had to find something appropriate to wear for a very special birthday party while continuing to #wearblueforcharlie.

And after thinking about it for just a few minutes I decided nothing could be more perfect than this Royal Blue dress – it’s lacy so appropriate for a party – but also smart enough to look professional.

It’s days to like today when I really love my job.  But more importantly I’m still able to support the Charlie Cookson Foundation.
