Lose to win – Week 14

I’ve done a bit of experimental cooking this week.  Using more and different spices to those I normally use to add a bit of flavour to my food.

While tandoori chicken and chicken tikka have long been favourites I’ve never made Cajun chicken myself – and it was delicious.

I’ve also been trying adding a few things to crystal noodle soup for lunch – I’m not usually a big fan of soup but this was delicious.

But I wasn’t sure what impact this would have on my diet until I stepped on the scales this morning.  And the result is………..

12st 4lb

That’s another 2 pound off and another £2 for the Charlie Cookson Foundation.  And it means I’ve only got 6 pound to go to have hit my target of losing 2 stone before my birthday in August – maybe I need to rethink my goal!!

Tip of the week – spices are a dieters best friend

Winners lose – Week 13

Cakes, cakes and more cakes………….

That’s what this week has been all about – oh and a lovely curry made by my good friend Cath McGuinness (check out her video on my Facebook page).

So my weigh in couldn’t be good could it?  And the result is……….

12 st 61l 2

Amazingly I’ve lost the 2 pound I gained last week.  No idea how but so that’s another £2 for the Charlie Cookson Foundation.  And to repeat what I said a couple of weeks ago – if I can lose another pound next week that will be 1 and 1/2 stone.  So this week I really am going to be extra good.

Blue is the colour – Day 25

I bought the dress I’ve decided to #wearblueforcharlie today online about six months ago.  I hardly every buy clothes online because I find it really difficult.

I like to go to shops.  I like to feel the material.  I like to be able to take it back really easily when it doesn’t fit.  That’s why the majority of my clothes come from Asda (the only shop open when I finish work) or Debenhams (one of the few shops in my small town that opens on Sunday).

But this one I bought online – not sure why – and it has caused me problems.

25.04,16

When I bought it I did all the things you’re supposed to do.  I checked the sizing.  I read the reviews.  I even checked the returns policy.

And when it arrived I really quite like it – at least I did on the hanger.  When I tried it on it looked ridiculous.  It didn’t fit – despite being told the sizes were quite generous.  So I should have returned it.

And that’s where it gets difficult.  If I need to return something I just want to go to the shop and get my money back.

But you can’t do that online.  You have to package it all up! You have to drop it off at the Post Office or some other shop you never go to!!  Then you have to wait for your money back – or even worse for the refund to be credited to your account so you can buy something else.

So as usual – I just didn’t bother.  And you know what I’m quite pleased I didn’t.  Because after losing a stone and half it finally fits.  And I think it looks ok.

It might not be the perfect work dress but I am running out of blue outfits so I’m going to wear it anyway as the Charlie Cookson Foundation is far more important.  My tip if you’re buying something online………………

Buy at least 1 size too big and be prepared to go on a diet – or if you’re like me – just don’t do it.
