Boxing Day Dip part 2

Only two more sleeps to Christmas and I’m still not ready

But what worries me more is it’s only three more sleeps until Boxing Day.

For most people Boxing Day is a time to chill out and relax.  But for me and 40 others it really will be the time to chill or should I say freeze.  Because on Boxing Day we will be walking, running or diving into the North Sea to raise funds for the Charlie Cookson Foundation.

My wonderful family and friends have already committed over £250 in sponsorship but I want to do better than that.  I’m aiming for a target of at least £400.  If you haven’t already sponsored me now is the time to do it.  It couldn’t be easier just

  • go to https://www.justgiving.com/5iftyby5ifty/;
  • email me with how much you want to sponsor me for and pay after Christmas; or
  • tell me on Facebook how much you want to sponsor me for and pay after Christmas

I know it’s an expensive time of year.  But dig deep and give whatever you can spare.  Even it’s just for the pleasure of seeing me make a fool of myself even when I haven’t been drinking.

You can find out more about the Boxing Day Dip here or why not come down to Seaburn on Boxing Day and see what it’s all about.

Challenge #4 Boxing Day Dip

I’ve taken the plunge (not literally – at least not yet), I’ve signed the pledge, I’ve got the forms and I’m already to go (well nearly).

Yesterday I finally got round to collecting the forms so I can complete the Boxing Day Dip to raise money for the Charlie Cookson Foundation and I need as many people as possible to get involved.  It’s being held on Boxing Day (it’s all in the name) at Seaburn and I can promise you it will be cold.

But what’s a dip in the North Sea between friends.  So why not join me and help me raise some money.  Let me know if you want to join in and I’ll get you the forms.  What better way to get rid of the post Christmas fatigue than running in to sea when the temperature is likely to be below freezing.  You can even do it in fancy dress.

Now I know there’s a lot of people out there who will be thinking this isn’t for them and maybe you’re one of them.  But that doesn’t mean you can’t still help because you can.  You can sponsor me to help me raise as much money as possible.  And if you’re a bit of a sadist you could even come along and laugh at me making a fool of myself.

If you want to join in Facebook or Tweet me or leave a message on this page.

If you want to sponsor me go to https://www.justgiving.com/5iftyby5ifty/ and make a donation.

Good luck to all of you who take part and thank you to everyone for your help

And the Winner is…….

Thank you to everyone who supported the Charlie Cookson Foundation by taking part in the competition to win Mambo Wine and Dine vouchers.  Some of the answers to how many pairs of shoes I own made me laugh.  I’m not sure where I would manage to keep 163 pairs of shoes which was the highest answer.  And I can hardly believe my own sister thought I would only have 40 pairs – I sometimes wonder if she knows me at all.

To be honest I didn’t even know how many pairs I had.  I knew that in April after a big clean out I had 66 pairs but I knew I’d thrown some away since then but I’ve also bought a couple of pairs so I had to count them.

So I emptied all the shoe racks in my wardrobe, hunted through the house to make sure I hadn’t missed any and even found one pair in the back garden (I wear them when I’m cutting the grass) and laid them all out in pairs on the living room floor.  I took some photos to post here.

Then I counted them.  And counted them again.  And because I was still in shock I counted them for a third time. But the answer was always the same.  I only have 54 pairs of shoes. I was sure that couldn’t be right, I was sure I must have had getting on for 100 pairs by now but no just 54 all of which are in the photo below.

So now I just needed a winner.  I looked at all the guesses and apart from my sister’s guess of 40 every single guess was more than I have but there was one that was quite close.

So the winner is………

Sophie Mills – with a guess of 58 pairs of shoes.  Congratulations Sophie but your guess won’t be the closest for long because tomorrow I’m going shopping for some new shoes
