Lose to win – week 23

After last weeks disaster I started this week determined to stick to my diet and get back on track.  And I didn’t do too bad, at least most of the time I didn’t.  It was a bit of a tough week so by Saturday I really felt like I needed a bit of a treat.

Now the town where I live, South Shields, is home to one of the best Fish and Chip restaurants in the UK.  And don’t take my word for it. Ask Patrick Stewart, David Miliband, Alison Steadman, David Walliams, Tony Blair or even Sting because they’re just a few of the celebrities who’ve enjoy the delights served up by Colmans.

So on a rainy day, when you want to watch the summer parade without getting wet, it really is the perfect place to eat.  So off we went.  Me, my youngest son and my Grandson.  We got a table in the window and watched the parade go by.

And while I’m not a big fan of fish I do love fresh cooked chips and count myself as a bit of  a connoisseur when it comes to chicken chicken nuggets which in this case are made with big chunks of chicken.

So when I got weighed this morning I was hoping I would have lost some weight but wasn’t really convinced I had.  And the result is…………….

12st 6

A brilliant 4 pound. Which, as I followed my chips with a large ice cream, I am more than happy with.  And of course that means another £4 to the Charlie Cookson Foundation.

Lose to win – Week 21 and 22

Last week I was in Brighton so didn’t have a weigh-in.  I was there for UNISON’s Local Government and National Delegate Conferences so eating healthy wasn’t either easy or my top priority.  I did try – well for about half an hour anyway.

So when I stepped on the scales yesterday morning I new it was pretty much going to be a disaster.  After all I’ve eaten chips, burgers, ice cream, sweets, chocolate, cake, pastries, hot dogs, cooked breakfasts and much, much more.  All washed down with Prosecco, full fat lemonade and a range of other high calorie drinks.

And the result is……………………..

12st 10lb

I’ve gained 6 pound.  That’s almost half a stone and in just two weeks.  It is an absolute disaster.  The only silver lining is that it means I’ll be donating £12 to the Charlie Cookson Foundation and that can only be a good thing.

But now I’ve only got 5 weeks left until my birthday and I’ve got 12 pound to lose if I’m to hit the 2 stone by 5 August. So this week I’m not only back on the diet but being extremely strict with myself because this is one challenge I am determined I won’t fail.

If you’d like to commiserate with me on my weight gain or encourage me to get back on track then please add to my £’s for pounds at www.justgiving.com/5iftyby5ifty

Lose to win – Week 20

Yesterday we had our Street Party.  It rained but it was still really good – but more on that later because this post is about my diet.

Though the reason I mentioned the Street Party is because I was fairly sure it would have and effect on my weight loss this week.

I’ve been so crazily busy this week that I’ve just grabbed whatever to eat – including cake, chocolate and KFC.  But I wasn’t so bad when I was at work so hopefully that will have balanced things out a bit.

Yesterday though was tough.  Hot dogs, chilli, ice cream and cakes were the foods on sale and a mix of all four was the order of the day.  At the same time I was running around trying to make sure everything was going ok so again I hoped things wouldn’t be too bad.

So at the end of the day I was so tired I decided that a glass of Prosecco, relaxing bath and early night were the order of the day.

Prosecco in the bath

So all in all I had no idea whether I would have lost weight or gained weight when I stepped on the scales this morning.

And the result is……………………

12st 4lb 3

I haven’t lost anything but I also haven’t gained anything either so not to bad.  And as I decided the last time this happened I would donate £3 to the Charlie Cookson Foundation I’ll do the same again this time.

And the moral of the week is…………………..

A mix of good and bad can lead to balance

If you’re impressed with my success, or lack of it this week, you can add to my £’s for pounds at www.justgiving.com/5iftyby5ifty or by text FIFB50 followed by the amount you want to donate to 70070
