Two thirds of the way through April and #wearblueforcharlie is becoming increasingly difficult.
It’s not that I don’t have enough blue clothes – it turns out I have loads.
It’s not that I’m getting fed up with wearing blue – though I don’t think I love the colour quite as much as I used to.
It’s finding something appropriate and blue to wear that’s the challenge – especially when I’m at work.
I know I’m lucky. There is no strict dress code. There is no uniform. There is no set of rules to abide by. But there is still the need to look professional and of course respectable. Wearing a bikini or pyjamas for work really wouldn’t be acceptable.
Anyway I’ve worked out that in my job I have three kinds of days that allow for different kinds of clothes.
Desk based days are the easiest. No planned meetings mean I’m unlikely to come into contact with members of the public or partners so I can be a little more relaxed in my dress. Though I need to be aware that something unexpected could come up. The dress I wore on Wear Blue for Charlie Day was a great example of this.

Days with meetings in the diary need to be a bit more formal. Especially if I’ve got external meetings planned. The navy dress I wore on Day 4 of Blue is the colour is perfect for these days.

Then there’s day’s like today. These are the hardest days. I’m desk based most of the day so want to be fairly comfortable but I also have an event to attend. Now I work in communications so when I attend these events I need to talk to people attending, video speakers and be available to help any media that turns up. And that means that not only do I need to look professional but I need to be fairly easy to spot.
It’s not an easy combination at the best of times. And as it turns out I wore the perfect blue dress on Day 5.
And I promised to wear a different outfit every day to raise funds for and awareness of the Charlie Cookson Foundation. So today was a real challenge. And not being a person who plans ahead I must have changed clothes half a dozen times this morning. I finally settled on this……………….

Hopefully it will do the job. Hopefully anyone who needs me will be able to spot me. And hopefully I don’t look too much like I’m about to head of for a night on the town.

After the excitement of yesterday’s Wear Blue for Charlie Day at work (I’ll tell you about how successful it was later) it’s back to #wearblueforCharlie every day in April for me.
And after yesterday’s new flowery dress I decided to continue with the flower theme today. So I’m still wearing my flowery blue shoes but this time have added an blue flowery dress that I already had in my wardrobe.

I always think I look a bit fat in this dress but I guess it could also be all the cakes I ate yesterday – but at least it was for a brilliant cause – the Charlie Cookson Foundation
